John Pearson initially met Ian Fleming in 1954 when he was a young journalist, and Fleming, whose vocation as a maker of Agent 007 hI LIKE TO believe that the plane was’ supposed to be funny. He was the only one of them to have a comical inclination (he probably thought that it was awkward at times in that dim funeral home of a structure up by Regent’s Park where they all still work) and since he booked my tickets when he made courses of action for my trip he would have thought about the plane. It left Kennedy at 4 p.m. for Bermuda.
