The creatures, his subjects, came round him and moved closer as he developed increasingly vulnerable. At the point when they saw him on the purpose of death they pondered internally: ‘Right now is an ideal opportunity to take care of repressed hostilities.’ So the Boar came up and drove at him with his tusks; at that point a Bull gutted him with his horns; still the Lion lay vulnerable before them: so the Ass, having a sense of security from peril, came up, and turning his tail to the Lion kicked up his heels into his face. ‘This is a twofold passing,’ snarled the Lion.

A Farmer one day went to the corrals to see to his load animals: among them was his preferred Ass, that was in every case very much took care of and regularly conveyed his lord. With the Farmer came his Lapdog, who moved about and licked his hand and searched about as upbeat as could be. The Farmer felt in his pocket, gave the Lapdog some modest food, and plunked down while he provided his requests to his workers …
