I don’t imagine, in giving you the historical backdrop of this Royal Slave, to engage my peruser with undertakings of a faked legend, whose life and fortunes extravagant may oversee at the artist’s pleasure; nor in relating reality, plan to enhance it with any mishaps yet, for example, shown up decisively to him: and it will come just into the world, suggested by its own legitimate benefits and normal interests; there being sufficient of reality to help it, and to deliver it occupying, without the expansion of innovation.
