The basic peruser may conceivably see a tone of practically clamorous gayety in specific pieces of these nonexistent Confessions. I can just argue, in protection, that the story offers the reliable impression of an exceptionally glad time in my previous existence. It was composed at Paris, when I had Charles Dickens for a close to neighbor and a day by day buddy, and when my recreation hours were euphorically passed with numerous different companions, all related with writing and craftsmanship, of whom the splendid comic, Regnier, is currently the main survivor.
