over the Black Sea. Around two hours out to the ocean, a searchlight unexpectedly played on the dinghy.

“Hurl to and distinguish yourself!”

The rowers lifted their paddles from the water; one of the men stood.

“We’re Navy frogmen on a preparation work out. You’re free to look at us!”

He lifted his arms demonstrating a parcel of papers in an oilskin envelope. A mariner came to down from the watch pontoon and took the envelope. He gave it to an official who had recently gone to the rail. Opening the envelope, the youthful official considered the papers and passed them back to the men in the dinghy.
