The PC screen gleamed with the shades of Mars. I could barely trust it. We
had done it! Mangalyan, India’s first local mission to Mars, was a fantastic
achievement. I was really taking a gander at a picture caught by the Mars
Color Camera (MCC) we had manufactured and mounted on our own Mars
Orbiter Mission (MOM). Mother had been dispatched from Sriharikota ten
months prior, on 5 November 2013. My significant other Gita and I viewed
the tremendous take-off from the new cutting edge control focus. As ISRO’s
workhorse PSLV-C25 took off impeccably into space, we restlessly watched
the flight way on the screen. Yet, the people sitting at the consoles were cool
and sure – the PSLV had substantiated itself again and again, and this age
had figured out how to underestimate it. Regardless, the dispatch was not
really important.
