Book Name: For God, Country, and Coca-Cola
Writer: MARK PENDERGRAST
This book has been a sort of “roots” venture for me. Since the two sides of
my family lived in Atlanta from the late nineteenth century on, I guess it
was inevitable that Coca-Cola would cross our carries on with ordinarily.
My paternal grandfather, J. B. Pendergrast, possessed a drugstore at Little
Five Points, where he regularly served the soda pop to Asa Candler, the
principal Coca-Cola mogul. J. B.testified amusingly about Coke’s epithets in
an early, significant Coca-Colatrial, at that point put resources into the
Woodruff Syndicate’s takeover of the organization in1919. Shockingly, J. B.
sold the stock a couple of years after the fact so as to construct a house.
