Past Great Powers and Hegemons looks to clarify why more vulnerable states follow all the more impressive worldwide or territorial states or implicitly or straightforwardly oppose their objectives, and how they explore their associations with the hegemon. The creators investigate the premiums, inspirations, targets, and techniques of these ‘followers’―including whether they can and do challenge the approaches and methodologies or the center situation of the hegemon. Through the investigation of both chronicled and contemporary cases that include worldwide and territorial hegemons in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and South Asia, and that address a scope of premium areas―from political, to financial and military―the book uncovers the homegrown and global components that represent the inspirations and activities of more vulnerable states.
