Sauron Defeated By J. R. R. Tolkien

Book Name: Sauron Defeated

Writer: J. R. R. Tolkien

Since quite a while ago predicted, the narrative of the pulverization of the

Ring in the flames of MountDoom was delayed to arrive at its last structure.

I will think back first over the earlier conceptions that have shown up in

The Return of the Shadow and The Treason of Isengard, and afterward, give

some further blueprints of the story. The origination of the Fiery Mountain,

in which alone the Ring could be destroyed, and to which the Quest will

eventually, lead, returns to the earliest stages in the composition of The Lord

of the Rings. It initially arose in Gandalf’sconversation with Bingo Bolger-

Baggins, an archetype of Frodo, at Bag End(VI.82): ‘I extravagant you would

need to discover one of the Cracks of Earth in the depths of the Fiery

Mountain, and drop it down into the Secret Fire, on the off chance that you

really wanted to crush it.’ Already in a blueprint that in all likelihood dates

from 1939(VI.380) the scene on the Mountain shows up: At the end When

Bingo [> Frodo] finally arrives at Crack and Fiery Mountain he can not

make himself through the Ring ceaselessly.
