Description

Merriam-Webster characterizes an urban legend as “a tale about an unordinary occasion or event that numerous individuals accept is valid yet that isn’t accurate.” Willie Sutton’s 40-year criminal record, wherein he scored almost $2 million and got away from jail multiple times, is the stuff of which urban legends are made. In fact, with an expected 100 bank heists surprisingly, Sutton legitimately earned his place in history as one of the most productive burglars of the twentieth century. However, in spite of his colossal vocation as the criminal driving force, the one characterizing sign of Sutton’s heritage would turn out to be so inseparably connected to him that it must be named “Sutton’s Law”— that is, his oft-cited reaction to the subject of why he burglarized banks, to which Sutton supposedly joked, “In light of the fact that that is the place the cash is.” Beyond showing the splendid effortlessness (and mind) of one of the most popular burglars of an age, Sutton’s Law would live on in other progressively good exchanges. In the clinical network, it filled in as an allegory urging specialists to concentrate on the most probable conclusion, instead of waste assets researching each expected chance.
