We at times do some senseless things with language. One of the silliest
happens when we wind up before another infant. What do we do? We
converse with it. We presumably make proper acquaintance or ‘What’s
your name?’ or ‘Aren’t you dazzling!’ or something to that effect. For what
reason do we do that? The infant surely hasn’t taken in any language yet. It
can’t in any way, shape, or form comprehend an expression of what we’re
stating. But then we converse with it as though it does. The child’s mom is
normally the first to start up a discussion with it. Here’s a genuine model,
which was sound recorded only a couple of minutes after one infant was
born: Oh you are lovely, you are stunning, you will be, you will be, you are,
gracious yes you are … hi … hi … aren’t you lovely … ‘What’s more, she went
on like this for a long time, while she nestled the fresh introduction. The
infant, then, wasn’t giving the smallest consideration. It had quit crying and
had its eyes shut. It might even have been sleeping. Be that as it may, the
mother couldn’t have cared less. She was by and large completely
overlooked but she continued talking
