Book Name: Billy Graham
Writer: Roger Bruns
Twenty-five sets of Baptist eyes estimated the youngster standing before
assemblage in a little church in north Florida. On Easter Sunday evening,
1937, a gangling, light, adolescent understudy from Florida
BibleInstitute arranged to lecture a message. Never had he done this
before. Young Billy Graham had gone with the scholastic senior member of
the Institute, the Reverend John Minder, and his family on a short
excursion. Minder’s companion, the Reverend Cecil Underwood, low
maintenance evangelist and painter in the little town of Bostwick,
welcomed Minder with an expected invitation to lecture the message that
night at his little church. Minderdeferred, declaring to the amazement of
both Underwood and Billy himself that the youthful understudy would
lecture that evening.Although shocked by the unforeseen development,
Billy was not absolutely prepared for this second. All through his youth he
had discussed Bible passages and asked out loud before his family and at
the chapel.
