Book Name: Jim Henson’s Labyrinth
Writer: BRIAN FROUD
No one saw the owl, white in the twilight, dark against the stars, nobody
heard him as he skimmed over on quiet wings of velvet. The owl saw and
heard everything. He got comfortable a tree, his paws snared on a branch,
and he gazed at the young lady in the dell underneath. The breeze groaned,
shaking the branch, scudding low cloud across the night sky. It lifted the
hair of the young lady. The owl was viewing her, with his round, dull eyes.
The young lady moved gradually from the trees toward the center of the
knoll, where a pool flashed. She was concentrating. Each conscious advance
took her closer to her reason. Her hands were open and held somewhat
before her. The wind sighed again in the trees. It blew her shroud firmly
against her thin figure and rustled her hair around her wide-looked at face.
Her lips were parted.”Give me the kid,” Sarah stated, in a voice that was
low, however firm with the courage her journey required. She ended, her
hands actually waited. “Give me the child,” she rehashed.
