In May 1986, the New York Times reported in a short snippet on a minor league outfielder playing in Hawaii: “Barry Bonds, the child of the previous major league outfielder Bobby Bonds, drove in seven runs for Hawaii on Monday with a grand hammer and two singles in a Pacific Coast League game in Calgary, Alberta, that Hawaii won, 18–8.”
