Book Excerpt

Perhaps excessively conventional, Morgan thought.

At long last the man turned upward. His eyes were dim, with a pursued look in their profundities that chilled Morgan a bit. “Where do we go? I don’t have the foggiest idea. I’ve attempted to thoroughly consider it, and I waste time. In any case, you must trust me, Morgan. I’m lost, I would not joke about this. On the off chance that I can’t find support, I don’t have a clue where it will end.”

“I’ll reveal to you where it will end,” said Morgan. “It will end in an emergency clinic. A psychological emergency clinic. They’ll secure you and they’ll lose the key some place.” He presented himself with some espresso and tasted it, singing hot. “Also, that,” he included, “will be that.”
