Description

The 1981 film The Prowler opens with newsreel film from World War II of the British liner Queen Mary bringing successful American soldiers home to start their after-war lives. The scene movements to a 1945 secondary school graduation move. Two youthful lovers leave the move to locate a private second. Their tryst is hindered by a figure in battle boots who, upset about having got a “Dear John” letter from the youngster while at war and making some troublesome memories straightening out to his life in a period of harmony, mercilessly kills the pair with a pitchfork. The film pushes the scene ahead to the furthest limit of the school year in 1980.
