I flew around like distraught to prepare, and before 48 hours I was crossing the Channel to show myself to my bosses, and sign the agreement. In a not many hours I showed up in a city that consistently makes me think about a whited catacomb. Preference no uncertainty. I had no trouble in finding the Company’s workplaces. It was the greatest thing in the town, and everyone I met was loaded with it. They were going to run an over-ocean realm, and make no limit of coin by profession.

‘A tight and abandoned road in profound shadow, high houses, endless windows with venetian blinds, a dead quiet, grass growing both ways, enormous swinging doors standing awkwardly partially open. I sneaked past one of these splits, went up a cleared and ungarnished flight of stairs, as dry as a desert, and opened the primary entryway I came to. Two ladies, one fat and the other thin, sat on straw-bottomed seats, weaving dark fleece. The thin one got up and strolled directly at me—despite everything weaving with depressed eyes—and just barely as I suspected of moving, as you would for a somnambulist, stopped, and gazed upward.
