Writing a history of my Nana (granddad) really appeared steadily over a number of years. He had been a transcending (somehow or another a mind-boggling) nearness in our lives. Theia tyranny of the 1970s and 1980s was a troublesome time for individuals like my family (liberal, Left-inclining). I was prodded and insulted in my schoolyard about being the grandson of a communist’ and an ‘agnostic’ (and feeling bewildered about what that implied!).
