. He wore a blurred blue sweater, worn out with soil, and short jeans. His hair was long and tangled. Earthy colored hair. It loomed over his face and around his ears. He held something in his arms.
“What’s that you have?” Hendricks said pointedly.
The kid held it out. It was a toy, a bear. A teddy bear. The kid’s eyes were huge, however without articulation.
Hendricks loose. “I don’t need it. Keep it.”
The kid embraced the bear once more.
“Where do you live?” Hendricks said.
“In there.”
“The vestiges?”
“Truly.”
