Description

The Woman dressed in White is broadly viewed as the first in the class of ‘sensation books’. It follows the account of two sisters living in Victorian England with their egotistical, uninterested uncle as their watchman. Marian Halcombe is the senior of the two sisters, and a strikingly revolting lady, however with fearlessness, quality and genius in plenitude. The more youthful, her excellent relative Laura Fairlie, is locked in to a rich man by the name of Sir Percival Glyde.
