Book Name: Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Biography
Writer: Bernard McGinn
This book owes its starting point to the considerate tirelessness of Fred
Appel of Princeton University Press, who continued soliciting me to think
from contributing something to another arrangement, Lives of Great
Religious Books. I considered forming a short book on a mysterious
exemplary, for example, Bernard of Clairvaux’s Sermons on the Song of
Songs, however, the more I pondered the possibilities the more I was
attracted to the terrifying thought of composing a book on Thomas Aquinas
‘ Summa Theologiae, perhaps the longest work in the standard of strict
classics and one of the most contemplated. I am not a card-conveying
an individual from any Thomist party and I’ve written just a couple of things
on Thomas over my scholarly profession. by the by, I’ve been perusing
Thomas for very nearly sixty years and showing him for more than forty.
At the point when I was considering a dry-as-dust rendition of neo-Thomist
theory from 1957 to 1959, I was saved from despair by perusing crafted by
Etienne Gilson, particularly his Being and Some Philosophers. Doing
theology at the Gregorian University in Rome McGinn.
