Book Name: Yitzhak Rabin Political Biography
Writer: Leslie Derfler
Rabbi Abraham Hecht strolled over the room in his home on Ocean
Parkway in Brooklyn. He had guaranteed the two family members and
correspondents that he felt no risk. However on that December night in
1995, as he glanced through a brace in drawn blinds, he again felt the
uneasiness that so frequently had held him during the previous few
weeks. The past June at a Manhattan gathering of rabbis, the 73-year-old
Hecht had expressed that giving back land on the West Bank to Palestinians
not exclusively was illicit yet as per Jewish law justified capital punishment
for its supporters. Some considered this to be advancing the viciousness
that offered ascend to the death of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The
Israeli government set Hecht in the fanatic wing of Orthodox Jews, and just
a couple of days prior, uncovered and shame sized, he had been suspended
by his own place of worship. Requested to clarify his comments, he stated,
“I more likely than not moved diverted. I have solid emotions about the
finish of the land. In the event that God offered it to us, I would prefer not
to give it back.”1The killed head of government, Yitzhak Rabin, was a
previous general, military head of staff, guard services, envoy to the United
States, and twice executive of Israel.
